Klotild Palace Was Sold for over HUF 2 Billion
August 25th, 2014

A Turkish investor bought the Klotild Palace. The monument was sold for HUF 2.15 billion. The self-government of the 5th district decided to sell the building on the 15th August: it was bought by Melis Investment Ltd., which is a part of Özyer Group.

A Hotel Will Be Opened in the Building
Its new owner would like to open a hotel in the newly bought Klotild Palace. The self-government organized an international, multi-round open tender for selling the building, which has been empty since 2009. They got 4 entries, and they found the ideal buyer in the 3rd round.

The Property Is to Be Renewed in 5 Years
Besides paying the price of the building, signing the contract the buyer promised to fully reconstruct the palace in the next 5 years. Özyer Group is a family business, which was founded in 1948, and works in media, hotel and property business, jewelry trade and energetics.

The Klotild Palace Was Sold Before in 2010
The self-government has already sold the palace before. In 2010 SCD Group bought it, which also bought the Parisian Court and the building located at 15 Szent István tér. But the business group went bankrupt, it couldn’t pay the price of the buildings, thus the transaction wasn’t realized after all. Within the confines of the current tender the self-government tried to sell these buildings again as well, but they didn’t find any buyers for them.
