The Fire Was Caused by 2 Workers
The 2400 square meter palace on Andrássy út was burned down because of 2 workers, who did reconstruction works on the roof. The fire was put out by 80 firefighters. The roof and the upper story of the building were seriously damaged.

The Fire Spread to a School and Another House
A nearby house at Szív utca and a school also caught on fire, but it was put out soon. The apartment owners were moved out from the house located on the corner of Andrássy út and Kodály körönd in the 6th district; 4 of them suffered smoke intoxication, and were taken to the hospital.

Apartment Owners Can Move Back Only after a Reconstruction
The 2 workers responsible for the fire called the fire department, and left the site. But later the police caught and arrested them for causing common danger. The current condition of the house makes it impossible for the apartment owners to move back in. The self-government of the 6th district helped them find an interim place to stay. They can only get their apartments back after the house gets reconstructed.
